Marketing Tip: You Have To Take The Good With The Bad
Here is a Business Tip for us all. You never know when something bad can turn into something good.
A short time ago I was walking out of a Tim Horton’s, on my way to my car, when I saw a man dumping garbage from his vehicle onto the grassy area that separates the parking lot from the neighboring street. With a trash can only a few feet away, I was amazed at the audacity of someone who cared so little about other people and the environment that he would just open his car door and throw his mess out of his car. Lazy, just plain lazy….which is the 30th ranked “Worst Quality In A Person” per Ranker.com.
Sometimes You See The Best And The Worst At The Same Time
But then, just as the man was pulling his vehicle onto the street, another man walked up to the trash, picked it up, and deposited it in the garbage can. Just like that.
In about 60 seconds time, I witnessed a completely self-ISH person littering without a care in the world and a completely self-LESS person who cared enough about the world or at least his corner of it, cleaning up somebody else’s mess.
I wouldn’t say that it restored my faith in humanity but it certainly gave me a push in that direction. It made me think about what I could do to help as well. It was empowering and made me want to do better, just like Mr. Clean Up.
So what does this have to do with Marketing or your business in the Hardscape/Landscape industry? Well, there will always be days when someone or something makes you doubt the world in general. So take our business tip next time you are talking to someone who doesn’t respect you, your family, your company or your employees. Just wait. Someone who has respect might be right around the corner.
